The new Obama administration has made a commitment to assist single moms to return to school. He has made available “Mom’s Return to School” scholarship so that mums can pursue their studies and thus create a brighter future for their children. Despite the very bad economy, it is not a great time to consider going back to college, even more so if you are a mother. Currently the economy is any downside but when it bounces back, qualified workers looking big demand. That is why all people including moms should consider going back to school.
The ‘Obama Moms Return to School’ scholarship is otherwise known as the Federal Pell Grant. This is a needs-based grant that provides financial assistance for low income people who wish to go to college. If you are on a low income then you may be eligible.

Also, the Pell Grant Proposal would make education available for over 250,000 students and he is hoping that many of those will be the classic stay at home moms, as well as single and working moms who wish to go to college because of a grant or scholarship.
Some of the factors that will determine how much money you are eligible under the Pell grant include:
- Your EFC (expected family contribution)
- The cost of attending your chosen college institution
- Your enrolment status (i.e. whether you are a full time or part time student)
- Whether you are attending college for a full academic year, or less than that
Mothers who have a college degree are putting themselves in a much better position to gain a well paid job – and give their children a role model to look up to. You may be a mom who has thought about going to college, but money always holds you back. Being able to go to school and raise a family at the same time is a goal for many mothers today.
